Rose Gray @ LPR
The English musician's show was an ode to dressing up and going out
Rose Gray’s set at Le Poisson Rouge made last Wednesday night electric. The dance-pop musician’s performance, featuring music from her 2025 album “Louder, Please” and several unreleased songs, was an ode to a night spent dressing up and dancing.
I discovered Rose Gray about a year ago in the spring of 2025 while getting ready to go out and celebrate my roommate’s birthday. Charli xcx’s BRAT, in typical fashion, was played front to back to prepare for my descent into the night, and as “365” faded out, my phone automatically queued “Wet & Wild”. Where did this delicious, thrilling pop song come from, I thought as I saved “Louder, Please” into my music library.
What followed was a summer of listening to the album nonstop. The emotional dance pop songs scoring heatwaves, pregames, and balmy bike rides over the Williamsburg bridge. Rose Gray’s “Louder, Please” is an ode to love, freedom, friendship, and partying, rich with inspiration of the English singer’s coming of age in the clubs of East London. Her passion for life, love, and the club echos throughout all of her work, and it greatly resonated with me as I spent many hot summer nights out with friends in Brooklyn.

As Kayla and I descended down the stairs of Le Poisson Rogue to catch her Wednesday night show, I felt camaraderie with our fellow concert attendees thinking how they likely felt a similar wave of excitement and emotion getting to dance and party in an intimate venue with such a star.
From a dramatic entrance of Gray floating through the crowd in a glittering ensemble to a theatrical performance of “Angel of Satisfaction” that demonstrated her vocal prowess, the musician took us on a journey of “Louder, Please” hits and soon-to-be-released songs. The latter included a crowd-pleasing mashup of “God is a DJ” with a remix of Madonna’s “Music” and the increasingly anticipated “Club to Your Arms”, where she dons a tiara before throwing it out to the crowd for a lucky fan to take home.
The performance was enhanced by a clothing rack full of accessories and costume changes: Louboutins and a glittery going out top, Balenciaga shades, headphones, and a leather blazer, knee-high boots, an “I Heart NY” tee, and silver hot pants. The musician made the small stage of LPR into a world of her own built around her music and wardrobe. She ended the show singing the crowd goodbye, removing her makeup while looking into a mirror onstage, but not before inviting everyone to continue the night at an afterparty at Gabriela.
The crowd had the absolute best energy, and Kayla and I got to chat with a few of the attendees about their outfits before they took to the dance floor. See below for more….

My top is a collaboration with Balenciaga and Britney. I love her. The pants I got in Mexico City. I love them. I’m from Mexico City, so I try to go back any time I can, and these sneakers I got in Mexico City as well. They have this spring in the back, so it makes me a little taller.

I am wearing a shirt that was donated to me by Amethyst from [RuPaul’s] Drag Race, some faux leather shorts that I sewed myself, and a hardware set from Home Depot that I made. I made the tote bag as well, and the shoes are from Amazon.

For starters, the hair is an accessory. I dyed it red like Rose’s. It was a little darker last night, but I went in the pool, so it’s lighter now. I also have Rose’s tiara from her show last night that she gave to me. I have my heart of bone jewelry from Australia, a carnelian bracelet that my coworker gave me, my wristband from last night’s show, and my wristband for tonight’s show. My shirt is Rose’s merch that I got last night with stains from my sweat, and then I have on these denim shorts from Urban Outfitters, and some converse.

The top is this thrifted Pepsi tank top, the pants are just pants I wear pretty much every day. I love these. The belt is like fast-fashion vibes. My shoes are Vans, and these gloves were rhinestone mesh chaps that I cut up and reworked.
Your outfit in one word:
I’m struggling to get it down to one word. It’s “gay”, “goth”, “pop-y”, maybe a little bit of “Americana” in there.
What makes an outfit perfect for the club?
It has to be fun. If it’s not fun, why are you wearing it?

I have this button up with fish on it and this Liquid Blue shirt underneath. It’s actually double sided with a blue side on the back. Rose Gray’s colors are blue and yellow right now, so we tried to dress on theme. These jeans I’m pretty sure are either Levi or Kirkland and the shoes are Nike by You where you can customize the colors.

This blue tank top is from the dollar store. Jack gave me this flannel. My shorts are from Urban Outfitters. I have these yellow socks and blue and yellow shoes from Nike, also going with Rose Gray’s colors. Then, I have this chain from Hot Topic. Jack also got me this necklace inspired by the TV show Charmed from somewhere online.

I’m gonna go basic. It’s “Blue”.
What makes an outfit perfect for the club?
I think this outfit represents that for me. I love something baggy. I love something with rips in it, and I love adding little accessories. It also has to be something I can move around in.

I have this bandana I stole from set. My shorts are from a Walmart in Texas. My boots are Amazon combat boots, and I’m wearing a little tank that I got from the dollar store and then cut to crop it. Some of the jewelry I have on is actually Lo’s brand, Psychopomp Steel, it’s really cool. And the bag is from BY FAR, which was passed onto me from my old boss.

What makes an outfit perfect for the club?
I need to be able to get really sweaty in it and look really hot. So if it has that duality, that’s it. Moisture wicking material!!!
